Ms Vida Chiong
has been with the insurance regulatory body for more than 18 years, having
joined the Insurance Commission in April 1981. Before that , she worked
as Statistician for a period of 6 years at the National Pollution Control
commission, also a government agency.
Her first job at the Insurance Commission was at the Actuarial Division
where evaluation of policy contracts including actuarial bases and verification
of Annual Statements were among her duties. Two years later, she was assigned
to the Statistics Division, and from there moved to the Investment Service
Division to become an Investment Analyst.
She also had the opportunity to work in the Technical Staff of the Insurance
Commissioner, after which she got promoted to Chief of the Rating Division,
a position she held until her appointment in January 1999 by the President
to the post of Deputy Insurance Commissioner
