Jules is a qualified actuary, with fellowships in the Institute of Actuaries of Australia, the Canadian Institute of Actuaries, and Society of Actuaries (USA), and also holds a PhD in Numerical Analysis (St Andrews University, Scotland, 1980).

Jules has acquired a broad base of experience through a range of employment experiences - consulting, business and educational - and currently is a Director of AskIT! Consulting Pty Ltd and Enterprise Metrics Pty Ltd. Prior to this, Jules has worked with a large international actuarial and financial consulting organisation (1993 -1997), and in the life insurance industry (1985 - 1993), with management experiences in a variety of areas, including all actuarial issues and various systems areas, and as part of the senior management team.

Jules also has a strong interest in education, having spent five years as an Associate Professor at Dalhousie University (Nova Scotia, Canada), with responsibilities including the development and management of Co-operative Education programs. Jules has retained an ongoing interest in professional education, having been the Chief Examiner in Life Insurance for the Institute of Actuaries of Australia in 1999, and a long term involvement with teaching the Honours level Actuarial 'Control Cycle' courses at the University of Melbourne.

Jules assisted with the development of the Enhancing Regulatory Regimes in Life Insurance in Asia Symposium (Nov 1999) and the subsequent Training Course in March 2000, as well as being involved with the development of the current 3 year Managing Regulatory Change Program.
