Mr Reyes is a Fellow of the Actuarial Society of the Philippines and member of the International Actuarial Association. He graduated with a B.S. Physics degree under a National Science Development Board scholarship in 1974, and an MS in Actuarial Mathematics from the University of Michigan in 1971 as a scholar of the Government Service Insurance System.

His work experience in the actuarial and insurance fields include 4 years with the Government Service Insurance System as Senior Assistant Actuary up to 1974, 20 years with Jardine CMG Life and Pensions Company as Senior VP-Chief Actuary and member of the Board up to 1994, 4 years with Aetna Life Insurance Co and Aetna Healthcare as VP-Chief Actuary and member of the Board up to January 2000, consultancy work with pre-need companies, and currently as a consultant of the Presidential Retirement Income Commission effective September 1, 2000.

In addition to the technical aspects of his work, he was also involved in interaction with regulators and industry organizations in the insurance, pre-need and HMO sectors as a member of the various committees of the Actuarial Society of the Philippines and as the company representative to the Philippine Life Insurance Association.
