Mr Sonig joined LIC of India as a directly recruited Officer in January, 1964. He worked in several positions including In-charge of Branches, Divisions, Regional Manager, LIC Housing Finance Ltd., Regional Manager (Mktg.) & Executive Director (Pension & Group Schemes), Central Office of LIC.

During his tenure as Executive Director (P&GS) the following highlights of performance are worth mentioning.

i) He supervised and co-ordinated successful implementation of Welfare Schemes of Social Security Group Insurance sponsored by Central Government throughout the Country.

ii) The P&GS performance touched new heights of achievements.

iii) He was nominated to several Committees important for Consumers' Interests like All India Claims Review Committee etc. and other important Committees of the Central Office of LIC.

Mr Sonig has participated in various National and International Seminars & Meets and presented papers on different aspects of insurance.
